Hogwarts is a school that young wizards attend to develop their magical skills. The building, situated in the hills of Scotland, is seen as an age-old decaying palace with a sign that reads "Beware, dangerous ruins", by people who lack magical powers (more often) known as "Muggles". It has seven levels, multiple towers and extensive grounds containing a lake, a forest, called The Forbidden Forest, and various greenhouses for botanical purposes.

Gryffindor: This house was established by Godric Gryffindor, an honourable and brave Grand Wizard, born about a thousand years ago in the same village as Harry and Albus Dumbledore, Godric's Hollow.

Hufflepuff: This house was founded by Helga Hufflepuff. It highlights the virtues of those who are just, loyal and are not worried about hard work. It is known as the outcast house among Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw, as its students are honest, hardworking, and fair.

Ravenclaw: This house was founded by Rowena Ravenclaw and only smart, creative and wise people are chosen.

Slytherin: This house was founded by Salazar Slytherin. The characteristics of its members include people who use any means to achieve their ends, determination, ambition, a certain disdain for rules, cunning, aspirations for greatness and hunger for power.
